Random Acts of Sewing Kindness

Remember this dress? June Carter's (Reese Witherspoon) beautiful pink pin dot dress from Walk the Line. She's wearing it when she and Johnny Cash (Joaquin Phoenix) first meet at the Opry.

I adore this dress - it's so pretty and feminine - and want to make it as part of my June & June Project. However, I couldn't find a pattern. So, I put out a sewing SOS on Sew Retro. Boy, those folks are wonderful! Not one day later, I had an offer to borrow this beautiful pattern:

Fantastic, no? That's the dress! I am so excited and want to send out a big thank you to Crissy for offering it to me. It's a size 14, so depending on the waist measurement, I may have to grade it a bit to fit me. I'm really looking forward to making this one.

Now, if only I could buckle down and get some of my UFO's done......

I will definitely post my finished dress. I signed up for the Stash Busting challenge, so my first version will be made from Tiny Dots in Fire from Patty Young's Andalucia collection (I have 3 yards).

After I've whittled it down a bit, I plan on making the pink version from the movie.
