My good friend and I were shopping on Etsy the other day putting together the Ultimate Man Gift for our husbands. That's when she told me about Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and the potential risks to your body. It kinda freaked me out, to be honest.
Since then I've been researching to find out all I can and I've come to the following personal conclusions:
1. I want all SLS & paraben products in my home OUT. Now. Immediately.
2. I need safe, healthy, effective, organic, and affordable alternatives.
3. These alternatives need to be in line with my Thrifty 365 pledge.
Ignorance is not bliss. To read more about the side effects of SLS and its counterpart, Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES), click here.
The good news is, I went right to Etsy to see what I could find. Personally, Etsy is more than just a place to get cool handmade things, it's a lifestyle choice. After much searching and many messages to sellers, I have a shortlist of shops that sell SLS/SLES free, natural, and affordable products:
I know I'll feel better having these types of products in my home. As I have sensitive skin, psoriasis and eczema, I am very interested to see if some of those issues clear up with this change in products. Will keep you posted!
