I've been working on this one for a while. Patty's gorgeous fabrics from her Andalucia collection was the starting point and it all went from there. Surprisingly, I didn't purchase much for this room makeover. I 'shopped my house' and thrifted a few things.

The picture collage over the couch is one of the things I love in the room. The vintage soda ads are from AllPosters.com. The other two pieces have been with us for quite a while. I really like how it turned out.
The stained glass lamp is something that I found on eBay several years ago. For me, it's like the Cabbage Patch Kids of lamps: so ugly you like it! The sidetable was thrifted for a steal and the coffee table is one we've had already. Mr. Friday's armchair was given to us a while ago by his grandfather and is a great piece of furniture. The lovely cushion was embroidered by my grandmother.
Like many living rooms, ours is multi-purpose. It's not only the main room in the house, it's where we spend our time together as a family, and it is also Miss Friday's playroom. These great Trofast shelves and bins from Ikea house a ton of her toys, books, and games, and it's easy for her to clean up after playing. I still need to cover the sconce cords in paintable cord covers. The piece above the play area is by the very talented artist, Sara Mincy. I love the quote: 'A house is made of walls and beams. A home is made of love and dreams.' The Keep Calm and Carry on print is handmade by sfgirlbybay. I love the bold chartreuse and it's a great motto to live by. The rocking chair came from Mr. Friday's parents and I recovered the cushions.
I know natural light is the best light for photographs; however, this beautiful yellow changes in colour and intensity throughout the day and I wanted to show if off in the evening light. This is the longest I've ever taken to finish a room off in any of the homes we've lived in and I'm really happy with how it's turned out. It's warm, cozy, and inviting, yet fresh, bright, and fun. It fits us perfectly.
The dining room is next.....

Hi Sarah
I love the look - so bright and positive! (You may have guessed I'm not into Magnolia myself!)
I love this! It looks so cosy, warm and inviting! You are definitely a domestic goddess! It looks so perfect and homely! I wanna just go in and collapse on the couch!
Love how you've found and re-made things and got it all to match perfectly, love your little quotes around the place too, 'A house is made of walls and beams. A home is made of love and dreams.' and the Keep Calm and Carry On print. Sounds a perfect little haven with perfect words to live by! I so want to re-design my room now! Ebay and Etsy beckons I think! :D
Please tell me where to get those paintable cord covers for your wires, I have these really unsightly black DAB radio wires, that take up half my wall, if I could cover them up that would be fantastic! :)
Thank you so much for your lovely comments. :) It really made my day!
Angela - the paintable cord covers are at Ikea. They're inexpensive and easily cut to fit. :)
You're welcome! :)
Thanks, the cord covers sound ideal! (Why didn't I think of trying to find something like that before?) :)
Wow -- it looks great Sarah! I love your posters!
